Steve Sisler
Owner
Woodworking and construction for Steve Sisler is more
than a job, it is a life long passion instilled by his parents as a young boy. Steve
started woodworking at age ten with his father who was a professor at Cornell. Together
they lovingly restored antique Adirondack
guide boats that the family still uses today on fishing outings. At age 14 Steve’s
construction career began when his mother brought him along to work on renovations of historic buildings that she directed
in their home town of Ithaca, New York.
Steve has been involved in woodworking and construction
ever since. He has a degree in Industrial Economics from Union College where
he also played varsity ice hockey, his other passion. Steve’s construction
site management benefits from his understanding of team dynamics learned from years of hockey.
Steve has lived abroad, traveled extensively and is fluent in Spanish. Shortly
after college, Steve came to Vermont when an old friend needed a home built. He
has been building primarily in Vermont ever since.
Steve lives with his wife, two teen age sons, two Jack
Russell terriers and a cat in Waterbury Center. After hours he likes to coach
and play hockey, windsurf, ski, mountain bike, kayak, travel, garden or just relax with a good book.
"Steve has an imagination, lots of creativity, and the ability to work with
people."
Milford Cushman, Designer, Stowe, Vt.
Mike D'Muhala
Framing Foreman
Mike D’Muhala is adept at assessing interpersonal relations
and then crafting a happy, cohesive and effective team. Trained as chemist by
the University of Connecticut, Mike first worked in and then ran R & D chemistry labs, but found the repetition of fine
tuning a chemistry process boring. To satisfy his yearning for variety, Mike
later held jobs as a landscaper, youth pastor, caretaker, mechanic, manufacturer, tree surgeon, construction worker and now
foreman. Mike has realized that he likes to work outside, have variety in his
work, see quick results, and the boy in Mike loves mucking around with big machinery, the bigger the better.
Mike’s real strength is his high EQ, easy going nature,
and fascination with interpersonal relationships. Mike has extensive training
in leadership, conflict resolution, and personality profiling. He puts this knowledge
to wonderful use by keeping the moral of his team high. He likes being surrounded
by good people and keeping them supplied, organized and informed so they can be most effective.
Mike lives with his wife and two young children in Morrisville. He loves spending time with his kids doing just whatever they want to do. In his spare time, Mike helps run the local Swimming Frog Children’s Theater, and has a company that
does sound and light effects for concerts and plays. Mike treasures Vermont not
for its recreation, but for its down-to-earth folks whom he feels are a rarity.
Noi Jones
Finish Foreman
Noi Jones has years of experience in every aspect of construction. Noi is particularly skilled
at finish details and is exceptional at communicating his extensive knowledge with clients in a personable manner.
Noi
was born in nearby Morrisville and raised in adjacent Hyde Park. He is a fifth generation Vermonter on one side of the family
and first generation of Thai descent on the other. A graduate of Lamoile Union High School, Noi was introduced to construction
by his father at the tender age of fifteen. Although, at that time he was more interested in precision machining and did vocational
studies in this trade. However, after a stint as a machinist, Noi yearned to work out of doors and more with his hands, rather
than set up an indoor machine and watch it work. Noi finds his carpentry work interesting and challenging, and he additionally
enjoys the interactions with clients and colleagues. Noi takes pride in his work. At the end of the day he feels a gratifying
sense of accomplishment reviewing his work.
Off the construction site, Noi enjoys spending time with his wife, four
children, and dog. They live in Eden on ten acres of land with extensive gardens. A product of two distant cultures, Noi is
a hardcore outdoorsman who loves to eat Thai food. Although obviously not a squeamish kind of guy, while in Thailand Noi was
often advised not to ask what he was eating. An avid hunter, Noi tracks his prey in all seasons from Maine to Vermont. Noi
revels in the solitude of the woods and the art of his craft.
Steve Gruner
Finish Specialist
A passion for excellence and desire for challenging and diverse
work make Steve Gruner a driving force on the finish crew. Steve started
his construction career as a framer, but with time realized that the fine detail of finish work was a better fit with his
personality. A meticulous craftsman, Steve enjoys interacting directly with owners
so he can better apply his skills to achieve the desired outcome. He welcomes
the challenge of striking an appropriate balance between efficiency and precision work.
Steve is constantly seeking to learn new construction methods to enhance his repertoire of techniques.
Unlikely for a young native of Morrisville, Steve developed
a love for music and a worldly perspective. Steve is an accomplished guitarist,
and currently plays in a rock band. He hopes to put his degree in Recording from
Johnson State College to better use one day by having a recording or mixing studio.
His family’s hosting of many foreign exchange students gave Steve an unusually international upbringing for rural
Vermont. His recent bride was even a former exchange student from Indonesia. After a lengthy trip to her homeland, they have returned to make their lives in the
Stowe area.
"We were extremely pleased with how much work the crew got done between
visits."

Peter Merrill
Project Manager
Peter Merrill brings to Sisler Builders a wealth of business
experience gained from more than 20 years in the banking and investment management fields.
Over the last 10 years, Peter participated in the start-up and build-out of two successful financial services ventures,
the most recent of which was located in nearby Montpelier. He found the work of growing these businesses far more fulfilling
than his money management duties and decided it was time for a change.
Peter loves old houses and has fully renovated
his family's last two homes. The most recent project, a complete renovation of a dilapidated historic farm house,
had been done by Sisler Builders. Now he applies his creativity and his wealth of problem solving and business
skills to help make Sisler Builders the leading high quality builder in the Stowe area for both large and small projects.
Peter and his wife attended Middlebury College here in Vermont, and they both have strong family ties to the state.
After years in the New York and Boston areas, it was inevitable that they would eventually move back. Currently they live on their Morrisville farm with their two sons and an array of animals including cats,
dogs, donkeys and goats. In his spare time, Peter serves as a director of the Mount Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club and the
Lamoille Area Recreational Center and enjoys hockey, skiing, cycling and cartooning.
Scott Cunningham
Business Manager
Scott Cunningham has
a depth of business and construction experience rarely found in the industry. Scott
has a business degree from Indiana
University and years of experience as an information technology consultant and
project manager in the Chicago corporate world.
There Scott improved businesses with technology and better processes. However,
Scott’s first love was residential construction since he grew up amidst a family heating and air conditioning business. After honing his business and project management skills, Scott wanted to return to
residential construction to utilize both of his areas of expertise.
Scott and his wife also
wanted to raise their young children in a peaceful and healthy environment. So,
they relocated to Vermont, and Scott started his own remodeling and tile
installation business. Through this work, Scott developed ties to Sisler
Builders, and realized that his skills would be better utilized helping an established, quality construction company
grow.
Scott stays
current with trends in residential construction through the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern Vermont,
where he is active in their Remodelers and Builders Councils. Scott, his wife
and three sons reside in Waterbury where Scott enjoys coaching the many sports
his sons play, as well as fishing, hunting, gardening and hiking.
"We were blown away by the exceptional quality and craftsmanship."

Danny Young
Senior Carpenter
Danny Young is a specialist in finish carpentry, a wonderful
communicator, and knowlegeable in many diverse subjects. A native Vermonter of
six generations, Danny even grew up on a dairy farm.
Danny has an agricultural economics degree with an emphasis
in math from the University of Vermont. After college he started down the career
path of an actuary in the insurance industry. Several years later in his Hartford,
Connecticut office he decided that spending the bulk of his life behind a desk was not for him. While soul searching Danny took a “temporary” job as a foreman at his parents landscaping
and nursery business in Irasburg, Vermont. Sixteen years later he was still there. When his parents decided to retire he would have taken over the business, but his
problematic back could no longer withstand the rigors of landscaping work. Danny
could have been a supervisory manager, but this would not have satisfied his hands-on nature.
Consequently, the family sold the business and Danny signed a non-competitive agreement.
Danny turned to construction for his new line of work. He enjoys the visible results of carpentry.
After many years of managing others, he now prefers to be a member of an effective team.
Danny continues to live in northern Vermont, now in Westfield with
his teenage son. He devotes much of his free time to home-schooling his son which
includes blacksmith training. Together they attend many local theater productions. Danny still loves plants and has a special interest in bonsai trees. An avid reader, he particularly likes science literature. Danny
started building his home long before becoming a carpenter, and like most labors of love it is still an on-going project.
